JSON to CSV FAQs
How do I convert a JSON file to CSV?+
Select a JSON file from your device, or type or paste JSON into the editor. Choose a delimiter, decide whether to include column headers and flatten nested objects, then select Convert. Copy the result or download it as a UTF-8 CSV file.
What JSON structure works best for CSV?+
An array of objects works best because each object becomes one spreadsheet row and each property becomes a column. A single JSON object is converted into one row. Every row may contain different properties; the converter creates a combined set of columns and leaves missing cells empty.
How are nested objects and arrays converted?+
When Flatten nested is enabled, nested object keys use dot notation, such as owner.name or stats.rating. Arrays remain compact JSON strings inside their cells because expanding arrays could create unpredictable row counts. Disable flattening to preserve entire nested objects as JSON cell values.
Will the downloaded CSV open correctly in Excel?+
Yes. Downloads include a UTF-8 byte-order mark to improve Unicode detection in spreadsheet applications. Values containing delimiters, quotation marks, or line breaks are quoted and escaped according to CSV rules. Potential spreadsheet formulas are prefixed to reduce accidental formula execution.
