Chrome extension
The JSON to YAML Chrome extension converts content locally in your browser. It does not send your JSON or YAML to us, use analytics, show advertising, or sell personal information. The extension stores your current JSON input only in Chrome local storage so it can restore your work, and accesses the clipboard only when you select the Paste action. Links and upload actions explicitly open jsontoyaml.net, where the website practices described in this policy apply.
Information you provide
You can use our core developer tools without creating an account. If you contact us, we may receive the information you submit through the contact form, such as your name, email address, message, and any details you choose to include. The contact form is provided through Google Forms and is also subject to Google’s privacy practices.
Tool input and local processing
Our interactive converters are designed to process the JSON, YAML, XML, CSV, HTML, and other content you enter locally in your browser unless a tool clearly states otherwise. We do not intentionally transmit or store that tool input on our servers. Avoid placing secrets or sensitive personal information into any online service.
Automatically collected information
When you visit the website, hosting, security, analytics, or advertising providers may automatically process limited technical information.
- IP address and approximate location derived from it.
- Browser, device, operating system, language, and referring page.
- Pages visited, interactions, timestamps, and diagnostic or security events.
- Cookie identifiers or similar signals, subject to your choices and applicable law.
Cookies and local storage
We may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to remember settings, understand website usage, protect the service, and support advertising. For example, the site stores your light or dark theme preference locally. Where consent is required, optional advertising or analytics technologies should be used only after you make a choice. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings.
Advertising and Google AdSense
We may use Google AdSense to display and measure advertisements. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites, where permitted. Depending on your location and consent choices, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.
- Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at Google’s partner-sites policy.
- Manage Google ad personalization at Google Ads Settings.
- You may also review industry opt-out options at YourAdChoices, where available.
How we use information
We use available information only for legitimate website purposes.
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website.
- Respond to messages, feedback, and support requests.
- Understand which pages and tools are useful.
- Prevent abuse and comply with legal obligations.
- Display, limit, and measure advertising where enabled.
Sharing and service providers
We do not sell the contents you enter into our developer tools. We may share limited information with providers that help us host, secure, analyze, advertise, or operate the website; when required by law; or to protect users, rights, and service integrity. These providers process information under their own terms and applicable obligations.
Retention and security
Contact messages and operational records are retained only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, legal obligations, dispute resolution, or security. Browser-side tool input generally disappears when you clear the editor or close the page, although your browser may retain local state. We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet service can promise absolute security.
Your privacy choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or a copy of certain personal information. You may withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. You can control browser cookies, local storage, and advertising preferences through the choices described above. Contact us to make a privacy request; we may need to verify it.
Children’s privacy
jsontoyaml.net is intended for a general developer audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our contact channel, please tell us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
International use and policy updates
Our providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to applicable safeguards. We may update this policy when our tools, providers, advertising practices, or legal requirements change. Material updates will be reflected on this page with a revised date. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies to future use.
